Changing your domain name on Wix is another common task that is pretty simple. This option may be better for print shops or other businesses looking to keep their Wix-built website.

Step 1: Log Into Your Wix Dashboard

The first step in changing your domain name is logging into your Wix dashboard.

Step 2: Host Your New Domain On Wix

You will want to make sure your new domain is hosted with Wix.

Step 3: Go To Your Domains

Go to your settings. Click on this and select "Domains."

Step 4: Go To Unassigned Domains

In the middle of this page, you will see an option that says "Unassigned Domains." Click that.

Step 5: Select Your New Domain

Before changing your domain name through Wix, make sure that you select the new domain.

Step 6: Choose Redirect or Replace

There are two options here–the first is "redirect" to send your old domain's traffic through to the new one.


If you select "replace," it will send all of your old website content to live on the new domain name without redirecting any of your previous visitors from the old site. If you do not have a backup of your website content and do not wish to lose any visitors, this is the option you will want to select.

Step 7: Save Settings

Don’t forget to save changes when you’re finished updating your settings.
